Carlos Quinto Kemm | Las Vegas, NM

Carlos Quinto Kemm is a native born New Mexican artist whose work is in the Visionary/Magic Realist tradition. Since 1980 he has been exploring the medium of painted dimensional collage. Themes of emergence and self realization are very central to his body of work.

“For myself the creation of painted dimensional collages has long been a seedbed for the exploration of self awareness and the growth of creative Imagination”.

Works allied to shamanic and visionary pathways feeds his questing need to make sense of lifes purpose. His worlds of mythic story and display call forth a sense of wonder and awe, offering the viewer a journey of discovery for their own personal symbols and interpretations.

"It is my heartfelt desire to give visual dialogue to those levels beyond personal symbols that will speak of the complexities of modern life in an age of incomprehensible madness."Carlos's work has been featured in numerous articles and books including Contemporary Art in New Mexico by Jan Adlmann and Barbara McIntyre, Magical Blend, Art in America, Visions Art Quarterly, and Santa Fe Fantasy (Elmo Baca). He was sought out by Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY to lead a 5 day workshop titled “Collage Painting, The Poetics of Transcendence”. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally including two solo exhibits at Natoli Ross Gallery in Los Angeles, CA.. Permanent collections include the Museum of Fine Arts, (Santa Fe, NM); the Albuquerque Museum of Art, (Alb. NM); and the Capital Arts Collection, Santa Fe, NM.
